Biography - Joseph D. Peters

Joseph was born in Montebello, California. His father of German descent and his mother from Bogotá, Colombia introduced him to the arts at an early age.

He began writing, drawing and painting at the age of seven. At La Salle High School he performed in the musicals of “West Side Story” and “Godspell”. He attended the University of Southern California where he took Art, Music, Writing and Drama classes. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

 
He formed Renaissance Productions, Ltd. and began his career with a music video, "Mas Que Nada". This film was based on a dream. It was shot on Super-8 and is distributed by (RPL).

He followed that up with a documentary, "Seniors and Alcohol Abuse". The 16mm film was shot in four days with a skeleton crew and was the Official Selection to the American Film Festival in New York. It is distributed by (RPL).

“Eskimo Ice Cream Shoes” is the story of a widow’s grief and how she overcomes it. It received the Gold Award at the Houston Film Festival.(RPL) distributes the film.

“Rachel” is a drama about a woman whose alcoholic father continues to haunt her even though he’s been dead for over twenty-five years. The film won the Silver Award at the Chicago Intercom Film Festival and the Bronze Award at the International Cindy Competition.(RPL) distributes the video.

“Emotions” reveals the lives and relationships of three women as they travel towards a cave-in site where their loved ones are trapped. “Emotions” received the Gold Award at the International Cindy Competition and an Honorable Mention Award at the Columbus International Film Festival. The film is distributed by (RPL).

Joseph has completed a film that was shot entirely in North Carolina. “When Autumn Comes” is a haunting tale about a young married couple whose relationship begins to crumble when the husband loses his job and they’re forced to move into his mother’s house with tragic results. The film was the Official Selection of the Columbus International Film Festival and is distributed by (RPL).

He is involved as a member of the American Film Institute, National Association of Latino Independent Producers and the Writer’s Table. He received a nomination for International Man of the Year 2000 by the International Biography Center and is currently in the publications of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.

In his spare time, he attends sporting events and film seminars with his wife. He also collects both film books and DVD’s for his extensive library.
